Since the pioneering papers by P. Marcellini, the Lipschitz regularity for minimizers of integral functionals with non-standard growth and for weak solutions for the associated Dirichlet problem to the elliptic system has attracted a lot of attention. After a short introduction with the aim to present the state of the art,  in this talk I will devote my attention to the case of the a priori bounded local minimizers of integral functionals with non autonomous energy densities under non standard growth conditions and I will present a recent Lipschitz regularity result obtained under a sharp bound on the gap between the growth and the ellipticity exponent. This is a joint project in cooperation with Antonia Passarelli di Napoli (Università degli Studi di Napoli - Federico II)
